NEW DELHI: Asserting that he had strong reservations about working under the present dispensation in the Bharatiya Janata Party, former Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana on Tuesday declared that he would decide his future political strategy only after meeting the expelled BJP leader Uma Bharti who would arrive here in the Capital on Thursday. Talking to reporters, Mr. Khurana said he was in touch with several leaders including those from the BJP and would decide his future plan of action by next week. Stating that the "unfortunate incident'' of BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan being shot by his younger brother had changed things for the present, Mr. Khurana said his plans to unveil "sexual scandals" as well as "the secrets of Kandahar'' stood postponed and he would wait for the right opportunity to once again highlight these issues. On the issue of Ms. Bharti, the former Chief Minister said he would hold elaborate discussions with the firebrand leader and then decide on the future strategy.

Mr. Khurana said he was in touch with a number of leaders including former Prime Minister V.P. Singh and former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala.
Unrelenting in his attack on those at the helm of affairs in the BJP, Mr. Khurana disclosed that he had written to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Tuesday expressing reservations about working under the current leadership of the BJP. "I have sought Mr. Vajpayee's blessings and requested him that he should not stop me from charting an independent course,'' he added.
Refuting claims by BJP leaders that the party had failed to capture power in Delhi during the last Assembly polls due to his poor leadership, Mr. Khurana said things would have been different had the party followed the action plan chalked out by him.
He said despite giving him assurances of working out issues faced by the people of Delhi in a time-bound manner, "nothing of the sort was done leading to our defeat".
