HYERABAD: The Overseas Manpower Company Andhra Pradesh (OMCAP) Limited has received good response since its launch in March first week with registration of 547 candidates seeking various jobs. Labour Minister G. Vinod told a press conference here on Tuesday that 268 among those registered were drivers, 106 ITI/diploma holders, 89 professional and PG degree holders (BE/MCA/MBA), 30 graduates, 24 SSC/Intermediate and 23 medical professionals. He announced that OMCAP would shortly receive licence from the Protector-General of Emigrants (PGE), Government of India. It had already obtained an eligibility letter from PGE as an overseas recruiting agent. It would assist jobseekers by coordinating passports, visas and air-ticket. The company would enhance the employability of the candidates by offering training in personality development, spoken and written English, educating them on the profile of prospective employer/country, with special reference to its laws/rules.
Proposals
The Minister stated that a proposal from OMCAP had been forwarded to the External Affairs Ministry for approval as a training centre for workers heading for Malaysia for contractual employment. Another proposal had been sent to the PGE for providing a grant of Rs.15 crores for developing training facilities for workers seeking placements abroad. He said a MoU had been signed with M/s Gagan Global LLC for recruitment of 200 drivers of heavy trucks for the U.S. As many as 236 foreign employers were identified so far in various countries, including the U.K, Australia, Africa, Kuwait, Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar, Singapore, Sudan and Uganda. It was planned to open OMCAP offices in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati. Phillip J.P. Gagan, CEO, Gagan Global LLC, was all praise for the professional manner in which OMCAP was functioning. He said he had recommended the company to four U.S. firms, which were recruiting employees from India. K. Mangapathi Rao, Managing Director, OMCAP, and Asha Murty, Principal Secretary, Labour, were present.
