Tension over desecration of idol

HYDERABAD: Tension prevailed at Sardar Patel Nager in Moulali when unidentified persons desecrated an idol in a roadside `Erra Pochamma' temple on Tuesday. Local women devotees found the idol damaged when they went for prayers in the morning.

As the news about damage to the idol spread, hundreads of people from surrounding localities gathered at the temple and took out a procession demanding the arrest of culprits. Later, they staged a sit-in at Sardar Patel Nagar.

The Malkajgiri ACP Harichander and other senior police officials pacified the agitating crowd.
