Depression in Bay of Bengal, more rain likely in city
Staff Reporter
Bangalore:
The city experienced light rainfall on Tuesday evening. The Meteorological Department official told The Hindu that the rainfall is because of a depression in the Bay of Bengal, 1,200 km southeast of Chennai. The depression is extending up to the mid-tropospheric level. It is likely to move in the north westerly direction. The official said that the city could expect more rainfall over the next few days.
Many people were caught unawares by the sudden downpour. People were seen taking shelter under trees and sheds. "I thought I would get totally drenched. Thankfully, it did not rain for long," said Madhu S., a student.
