dated April 27, 1956: Invitation to Chaplin

The Soviet leaders, Marshal Bulganin and Mr. Nikita Khrushchev, now in London, have invited the film comedian, Charles Chaplin, to visit the Soviet Union. The invitation was made during a reception given by the Soviet Ambassador. Chaplin and his wife had a 30-minute meeting with the Soviet leaders. Mr. Khrushchev told Chaplin, ``We consider you the greatest living artiste."
