`Maharashtra Bhushan' for Ratan Tata

MUMBAI: Industrialist Ratan Tata will be conferred Maharashtra's highest honour, the Maharashtra Bhushan. Previous recipients of the honour include Lata Mangeshkar, Sachin Tendulkar, Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar and Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.

State Cultural Affairs Minister Ashok Chavan, told reporters here on Wednesday that Mr. Tata was selected at a meeting of the advisory council chaired by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Mr. Chavan said besides their industrial units, the Tatas had contributed a great deal to the social, educational and cultural development of Maharashtra and therefore the Council endorsed his name unanimously.
