BANGALORE: When there are a number of camps for school children during the summer holidays, a novel effort is being made by three like-minded organisations to offer a similar opportunity to disadvantaged children. "Chinnara Loka 2006," being organised jointly by the Association for Promoting Social Action (APSA), K.S. Muddappa Smaraka Trust and Chetana Fine Arts College, from April 28 is all set to enthral over 70 street children, child labourers and children from tribal communities. Chinnara Loka , a 15-day State-level residential camp, will create avenues and opportunities for these children to showcase their talent and skills. They will present what they have learnt at a grand performance at Ravindra Kalakshetra on May 13. The inaugural function will be held on April 28 at Chetana Fine Arts College in Girinagar, Bangalore. The camp is for children aged between 10 and 14. APSA is a child-centred community development organisation. Inspired by the motto, "for development without exploitation," it works with the urban poor, urban homeless and children in difficult circumstances including street children and child labourers. APSA can be contacted at Nammane, 24, Annasandra Palya, Vimanapura Post, Bangalore 560017, (phone 25232749). The e-mail address is apsabangalore@vsnl.com
