Isolated rain likely in T.N.

CHENNAI: A depression which formed yesterday, the 25th morning over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman sea intensified into a cyclonic storm `MALA' in the evening and now lies centered at 08-30 hours IST of 26th April 2006 at about 1000 Kms. Eastsoutheast of Chennai.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a Northwesterly direction slowly. Rainfall occurred at a few places over Kerala and isolated rainfall occurred over interior Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Telangana, coastal and north interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over south interior Karnataka and dry weather prevailed over coastal Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadweep.

Forecast (valid until Friday morning): Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over interior Tamil Nadu, interior Karnataka and Kerala. Mainly dry weather will prevail over coastal Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
