    KOCHI: A two-day workshop on `Process standardisation for change management' is being organised by the Computer Society of India on May 5 and 6.

    Process standardisation refers to arriving at a set of homogeneous processes encapsulating its various actions or activities. This will help reorganise, review and restructure processes to match requirements of various change management initiatives.

    E-business has set the goal to create a well-integrated E-process based system. This requires a powerful internal system for collaborative commerce more open and externally connected. In this direction, many have ventured into enterprise solutions viz., ERP, SCM, CRM in some form or the other.

    However, it has been observed that a lot of short falls have occurred on various factors viz., cost, time, vendor dependence, users' non-involvement and lack of preparedness during design and implementation stages.

    Ultimately, the tremendous potential of the enterprise products and solutions are being left unexploited. Now, the objective is turning towards streamlined processes, outsourcing non-core processes and e-processes.

    To be so, it entails having process standardisation exercise for change management. In this scenario, the role of information system managers who are the coordinators and implementers become very crucial.

    Functional and process managers, as they are the knowledge providers and integrators of the organisation, would also have a critical role. Further there is a continuous need to encompass the benefits of different management and systems methodologies and empower the organisation to effectively manage the digital way of dealing the business.

    All participants will be provided with evaluation copy of OPDI content software, a notification said. Mr.S. Gopinathan, founder of a process research and training organisation, Centre for info-business systems (CIBS) and developer of the OPDI methodology and Mr.K.P. Sunil Kumar a senior consultant will be the resource persons.
