CHENNAI: A two-day workshop on process standardisation for change management is being organised by the Computer Society of India Div II on Software and Chennai Chapter on May 5 and 6. E-business has set the goal to create a well-integrated E-process behind every organisation's web site. This requires a powerful internal system for collaborative commerce more open and externally connected. To achieve this, many organisations have ventured into enterprise solutions such as ERP, SCM or CRM. However, they have short falls due to factors including cost, time, total vendor dependence, users non involvement and the lack of preparedness in designing or implementation stage. Ultimately, the potential of the enterprise products and solutions are not fully exploited. Now, the objective is turning towards streamlined processes, outsourcing non-core processes and ultimately to recreate the organisation with E-processes. This entails having process standardisation exercise for change management; and highlights the role of information system managers and functional or process managers. To meet this and other objectives, the Organization Process Documentation and Integration (OPDI) is an innovative methodology evolved by a Chennai-based company Centre for Info-Business Systems (CIBS) to empower information system managers and functional managers. The OPDI ensures that the user processes and integrating complexities are systematically transferred to the enterprise-wide information system. The standardisation is based on the user's perspective. By process standardisation one refers to arriving at a set of homogeneous processes in various activities. Next month's workshop on these issues will specifically address OPDI methodology and ensuring of process standardisation. All participants will be provided with an evaluation copy of OPDI content software. Information system and EDP managers, software project managers and project leaders, functional consultants of ERP, SCM and CRM Packages and Functional Managers of various departments can participate in the workshop. S. Gopinathan, founder of a Process Research and Training Organisation, Centre for Info-Business Systems (CIBS) and the OPDI developer and K.P. Sunil Kumar, a senior consultant, will be the workshop's resource persons.
