MUMBAI: There has been no change in the condition of Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Pramod Mahajan as he continues to be "critical and stable." He is still on external life support system at the Hinduja Hospital here after sustaining multiple bullet injuries when his brother Pravin shot him on April 22. While addressing the media, Dr. Anupam Verma of the hospital said: "Mr. Pramod Mahajan's condition has almost been the same since Tuesday night. He has tolerated very slight reduction in requirement of medication to maintain his blood pressure. His condition continues to remain critical and stable. He is still on ventilator and dialysis." When asked if "stable" implied a positive development, Dr. Verma said Mr. Mahajan's condition has been the same for the last 40 hours, and can be called stable. He was still critical and doctors were closely monitoring him. The broadcast media continued to camp in front of the Hinduja hospital as more celebrities visited Mr. Mahajan. Actor Urmila Matondkar, actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar and Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray were among the visitors.
Kalam kept posted
Special Correspondent reports from New Delhi: President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is being given updates on Mr. Mahajan's condition. The President has written to Mr. Mahajan's wife, Rekha, wishing the BJP leader a speedy recovery, according to official sources in the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
