Tiruvarur: An all-party meeting was held at the Collectorate to discuss Assembly polls on Tuesday. The Collector, P.Ekambaram, appealed to the political parties to follow the Election Commission guidelines and help in the conduct of the polls in a peaceful manner the district.Poll observers (general) Ravi Manubhai Parmar (Tiruvarur), Kanta Prasad Sinha (Thiruthuraipoondi), Giriraja Singh (Nannilam), H.Imocha Singh (Mannargudi), and Alok Jha, poll observer (expenditure), for all the four Assembly segments participated in the meeting. He said that the political parties should use only authorised vehicles, for which permission chit was given, for poll campaign. The chits should be prominently displayed in the vehicles. The chit should contain the vehicle number and the name of the candidate. Vehicles used for the campaign of their leaders should also have been authorised by the poll officers concerned. He said expenditure upto April 24 when withdrawals were completed should be submitted immediately. After that every day accounts should be submitted. He also said that graffiti should not be written in urban areas. In rural areas, parties can write graffiti after taking permission from the people.
