The celebrations will commence with garlanding of the Basaveshwara at Basaveshwar Circle at Goaves. Lok Sabha member Suresh Angadi and other dignitaries will offer floral tributes at 8 a.m., which will be followed by inauguration of grand procession from Lingaraj College on College Road. Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council Sachidanand Khot will inaugurate the procession. In the evening, Social Welfare Minister Balachandar Jarkiholi will inaugurate cultural programme at Lingayat Bhavan in Shivabasavanagar. Ramesh L. Kudachi, MLA, will preside over the function. A lecture will also be delivered by C.K.S. Navalgi and Nirmala Prakash will recite Basaveshwara's Vachanas.
