Heavy turnout for re-polling

KOLLAM: Heaving polling was witnessed at all the four polling stations in the district where re-polling was held on Wednesday.

Three of these polling stations were in the Chavara constituency and one under the Karunagapally constituency. Following the detection of serious violation of norms in these four polling stations during the April 22 polling, the Central Election Commission had ordered the re-poll.

While in polling station number 9 of the Karunagapally constituency, 81.29 per cent of the electorate had cast their votes on April 22, 88.57 per cent cast their votes on Wednesday. Out of the 1,050 voters listed in the station, 930 cast their votes on Wednesday.

In polling station number 4 of Chavara, 80.60 per cent of the voters polled in Wednesday's re-polling. On April 22, only 74.29 per cent of the voters had cast their votes in this polling station. Out of a total of 1,093 voters here, 875 cast their votes on Wednesday.

In polling station number 66 of Chavara, 81.29 per cent of the voters had cast their votes on April 22. But on Wednesday, 87 per cent of the voters polled their votes. Out of the 1,133 voters listed in this station, 985 voted on Wednesday.

In polling station number 85 of the same constituency, 87.68 per cent of the voters had polled during Wednesday's re-polling. On April 22, the same station had registered a polling of only 82.10 per cent. Out of the 1,240 voters listed in this station, 1,050 had voted on Wednesday.
