Chief Minister lays stone for check dam

BASAR (ADILABAD DT.): Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Wednesday laid foundation stone for a Rs. 13 crore check dam across river Godavari at the temple town of Basar in Adilabad district. He was on a visit to Basar in connection with Praja Patham programme.

The Chief Minister also visited the famous Gnana Saraswati temple and offered prayers. Later he participated in the grama sabha at the gram panchayat office.

In response to local MLA Narayan Rao Patel's demand for a lift irrigation scheme on Godavari river, Mr. Rajasekhara Reddy assured to consider the Rs. 3.7 crore proposal. He also assured of sanction of CC roads in Basar town estimated to cost Rs. 15 lakhs.

He also distributed assets worth Rs. 2 crores. Social Welfare Minister and Adilabad district in charge D.S. Redya Naik, MLAs C. Ramchander Reddy (Adilabad) and A. Indrakaran Reddy (NIrmal), Collector R. Subba Rao also participated among others.

Scheme assured

MOPAL (NIZAMABAD): Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy has assured that he will sanction the Masani-Manchippa lift irrigation scheme costing an estimated Rs.50 crores to fill the two tanks with the Godavari river water from Ali Sagar reservoir to benefit the people of Nizamabad mandal.

Addressing a meeting organised in connection with the Prajapatham programme at this village, he said Gutpa and Ali Sagar lift schemes will irrigate an additional 90,000 acres from next kharif.

With the modernisation of Ramadugu project the reservoir capacity would be enhanced from the present 0.6 tmcf to 0.9 tmcf to give water to 2000 more acres in addition to the existing 5,000 acre ayacut.-Staff Reporter
