Injustice done to farmers: H.K. Patil
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE:
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council H. K. Patil on Wednesday reiterated his allegation that the State High-level Clearance Committee, at its meeting on March 24, decided to allot 2,040 hectares of land to four "dubious" information technology (IT) firms.
Addressing presspersons after releasing a booklet on allotment of lands to "fake" IT firms in and around Bangalore and Mandya district, Mr. Patil said the Government had been unjust to the farmers by acquiring their prime land only to allot them to real-estate developers. The land developers got land allotted on the ground that it would be used for setting up IT firms, he said.
In a letter to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Mr. Patil demanded immediate revocation of the decision. He said the Chief Minister should not try to "withhold information from the public". The Congress would launch an agitation or take legal action if the decision was not revoked, Mr. Patil warned.
