Water supply to be affected

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Jal Board on Wednesday said that because of repair work water supply would be affected in many areas of South Delhi for two days from Friday. They include Maharani Bagh, Friends Colony, Nizamuddin, Sarai Kale Khan, Chittaranjan Park, Greater Kailash, Kailash Colony, East of Kailash, Kalkaji, Kalindi, Zakir Nagar, Okhla Industrial Area, Sheikh Sarai, Chiragh Dilli, Asian Games Village, Andrews Ganj, Gulmohar Park, Yusuf Sarai, South Extension, Srinivaspuri and Amar Colony.

Northern Railway to run special trains

NEW DELHI: Northern Railway will run 10 special trains with 354 trips to various destinations this year to cater to the summer rush. They include Hazrat Nizamuddin-Mumbai Central Rajdhani Summer Special; Delhi-Rae Bareli Tri-Weekly Special; New Delhi-Guwahati Summer Special; New Delhi-Howrah Superfast Tri-Weekly Summer Special; and Dehra Dun- Howrah-Dehra Dun Superfast Weekly Special.

DDA accused of using delaying tactics

NEW DELHI: Delhi Urban Development and Public Works Minister A. K. Walia has said that multiplicity of authority is hampering implementation of various development projects in the Capital.

In a statement, he said the Delhi Development Authority had been using delaying tactics and making unreasonable excuses for not initiating development projects entrusted to it by the Delhi Government. "A change in procedures is required to develop a suitable infrastructure for the Commonwealth Games-2010."

Information panel notice to AIIMS

NEW DELHI: The Central Information Commission (CIC) has issued notice to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) seeking explanation why it should not be penalised for violating the Right to Information (RTI) Act with regard to an information sought by its former official.

The CIC in its last week's order has asked the AIIMS authorities why it had not replied to the said officer under RTI Act and said if it failed to reply to the notice within 15 days, proceedings for imposing penalty be initiated.

Workshop on polio

NEW DELHI: Nineteen cases of polio have been reported in the country between January and March this year compared to 16 during the same period last year. This was stated by K. K. Aggarwal, president of the Federation of National Capital Region Doctors, at a workshop organised by Moolchand MedCity here on Wednesday.

Of the 19 cases, five have been reported from Bihar and 14 from Uttar Pradesh. Delhi has not seen any polio cases since January 4, 2005, though one compatible case was reported during this period, he added.
