Malavika...back in the limelight
Malavika, who has over two dozen movies to her credit, became popular with a hit song "Karupputhan Ennaku Pudicha Kalaru" in "Vettrikodi Kattu." Her dance number to a gana song "Vaalameenukkum Velangu Meenukkum Kalyanam" has brought Malavika again to the limelight. She talks about her entry into the film world and her latest movie "Thiruttu Payalae."
Till now I have done 29 films, 16 in Tamil, six in Telugu, two in Kannada and a Malayalam movie, besides four Hindi movies. I had a satisfying work in every film.
Today many say I am a one-song wonder. I don't agree with that. The director wanted me to dance for a song in "Perazhagan". I accepted it mainly because I wanted to act with Suriya. When more producers came with similar requests I did not accept them. But in "Chithiram Pesuthadi" I accepted to do a dance as I liked the song, which is a big hit now. I am doing a number in "Kai Vantha Kalai" directed by Pandiya Rajan.
My best was in "Chaala Bagundi" directed by E.V.V. Satyanarayana. It is my first Telugu movie as a heroine and it turned a super hit in Andhra Pradesh. In Tamil my best is the recently released "Thiruttu Payale" directed by Susi Ganesan. Every one is appreciating my work.
I want to act in more films and contribute more to success of each film. I do not want to do roles like running around trees, but want to do roles with substance. My dream is to work in a Mani Ratnam film.
