Publish list of unrecognised schools: court

HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the High Court on Wednesday directed the authorities to publish a list of unrecognised schools so that parents would not be taken for a ride. The Bench was dealing with a petition wherein a complaint was made regarding safety of school buildings at Amberpet. The Bench made it clear that all schools, including Government schools, must be made to adopt norms. The case is listed to June 6.

High-rise buildings

The Bench directed the authorities to issue notices to owners and occupants of high-rise buildings who have not fulfilled fire safety norms either directly or through paper publications where notices could not be served upon them. The Bench was dealing with a case wherein allegations were that authorities did not take action although there were violations of fire safety norms. The list of such buildings is to be published in two leading dailies. The court set out elaborate procedures on how the Director General of Fire Safety and municipal authorities should deal with the applications.

Roster points

Justice R.Subhash Reddy on Wednesday admitted a writ petition wherein roster points for admissions into PG Medical courses was challenged. Kishore filed the petition and complained to the court that roster points were meant for safeguarding the interest of the deprived classes in employment sector and service jurisprudence could not be made applicable to super speciality courses. The Government has been directed to file its counter
