HYDERABAD : A petty vendor allegedly beat his wife to death as she opposed his plan to sell their house at Saibabnagar in Uppuguda of old city. The vendor Shivakant Sharma, 45, had been pressurising his wife to sell the house which was in the latter's name for quite some time saying he would invest the sale proceeds in business, the Chatrinaka Sub-Inspector P. Srinivas said. On Tuesday night, he returned home in an inebriated condition and lashed his wife with a rubber tube
Mute spectators
"Their two sons -- one aged 20 and another 16 -- remained mute spectators because they were scared of their father from childhood," the Sub-Inspector explained. Later, Sharma locked up his wife in a room and went away asking his sons and neighbours not to open the room. He returned in the early hours of Wednesday, opened the room and shifted the woman to a private hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
Absconding
He disappeared after asking his sons to shift the body to the Osmania General Hospital. Police booked a murder case against the absconding vendor.
