Student ends life

Reportedly worried over her performance in the ensuing EAMCET, an intermediate second year student committed suicide by hanging in her house at Himayathnagar on Wednesday. The body of Anoosha, 18, was found hanging from the ceiling in the bedroom. She was attending long term coaching classes at an institute in S.R. Nagar and wanted to secure a seat in a medical college.

Dies of injuries

An autorickshaw driver Shaik Syeed Ahmed, 44, who sustained injuries after his friend Hateeq allegedly beat him up over a petty issue five days ago, died at a private hospital while undergoing treatment on Wednesday. The Rajendranagar police altered the sections of law from an assault case to that of murder.

Infant's body found

Locals found the body of a 10-month-old boy, packed in a plastic cover, in Habeebnagar nala on Wednesday. According to the police, the infant must have died in a hospital while undergoing treatment and either his attendants or the hospital staff dumped the body in the nala later. A case of suspicious death was booked.

2 die in accidents

An autorickshaw driver Prakash, 43, died on Tuesday night reportedly after an RTC bus of Mehdipatnam depot knocked him down while he was crossing the road near Mehdipatnam. In another case, an unidentified woman aged about 35 years died in a hit and run case near National Police Academy under Rajendranagar police station area on Tuesday night. The victim was clad in maroon sari and blouse.

Kidnapper nabbed

Police on Wednesday arrested G. Malla Reddy, 45, member of a gang that allegedly extorted Rs. 10 lakhs after kidnapping a person from Tirupati two weeks ago, here from a house in Chilkalguda.

Two cars, a bike, four mobile phones and Rs. 70,000 were seized from him, the Task Force (Central) police said.
