HYDERABAD: A day after the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad's general body meeting revealed the delay in completing parks as per schedule, Mayor T. Krishna Reddy went on a visit to Feroze Gandhi Park in Koti.
Residents' plea
Accompanied by Additional Commissioners - P.V. Ramana Reddy and Harshvardhan - and Chief Engineer Dhan Singh, he inspected the works and urged them to complete civil works and landscaping to open it for public before monsoon. Renovation of the park was taken up at a cost of Rs. 2 crores. His next halt was at Chaderghat Bridge where a left splay is being built at a cost of Rs. 30 lakhs to reduce traffic congestion. From there he moved to Old Malakpet where MCH Colony residents received him and put forth a plethora of demands, including high-mast lights, anganwadi school for children at a vacant site, summer sports camp and a sports complex. Mr. Reddy, who was joined by Deputy Mayor G. Subash Chanderji, assured to take up sports facilities at a cost of Rs. 3 crores in a half-acre open land and get it cleared by the standing panel within two weeks. The colony had a unique `palmetum' with 140 palm tree varieties brought from all over the world.
