Four GCMMF board members stage walkout, allege Government interference
|
Ahmedabad:
Parthi Bhatol, chief of the Banaskantha Milk Producers' Union, was elected on Wednesday the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) Chairman. The post was vacated by Verghese Kurien last month. Mr. Kurien, celebrated as the father of India's white revolution, served the federation for 33 years.
Mohan R. Bharward, chairman of the Ahmedabad District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union Limited, said the GCMMF board elected Mr. Bhatol, after four of the 12 members walked out of the meeting, alleging "interference" by the Gujarat Government. The four owe allegiance to Mr. Kurien. PTI
