A forum for Hindustani vocalists

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Hindustani music, no doubt, has taken firm roots in Bangalore. Yet, youngsters who look for platforms to showcase their talent hardly get to climb on to the stage.

Will a new forum, all set to be launched in Malleswaram soon, come to their rescue? The forum, "Sapthak," provides a platform for budding as well as established artistes. The forum is a brainchild of tabla player G.S. Hedge. It operates from a mini-auditorium, which can accommodate about 150 people.

Mumbai-based vocalist Pt. Dinkar Kaikini will inaugurate the forum on May 6.

A vocal recital by Pandit Parameshwar Hegde will be organised on the occasion.
