P. Venkoba Rao dead

BANGALORE: Freedom fighter and Sarvodaya leader P. Venkoba Rao, 84, died here on Wednesday. He is survived by his wife, five daughters and four sons.

A follower of Vinoba Bhave and Jayaprakash Narayan, Mr. Venkoba Rao opposed the Emergency and was detained in the Bangalore Central Jail for 18 months. He was a former Chairman of the Karnataka State Khadi and Village Industries Board.

Former Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader P.G.R. Sindhia said the death of Mr. Venkoba Rao was a great loss to the State.
