Advaitha Ashram Road to get a new look

Civic administration takes up Rs. 17.85-lakh project; repeated representations from residents yield result Works are expected to be completed by this June

SALEM: The Salem Corporation recently began re-laying the Advaitha Ashram Road, and construction of drainage channels on both its sides.

Damaged

The busy road remained damaged for several months causing great inconvenience to road users and residents. Since the road connected two main arteries in the city - Sarada College Road and Omalur Main Road - it was being used by thousands every day.

Culvert

Following repeated representations from residents to restore the road, the civic administration had taken up the work at an estimated cost of Rs. 17.85 lakh - Rs. 9.25 lakh for the construction of drainage channels and a culvert and Rs. 8.6 lakh for re-laying.

Closed for traffic

The civic workers closed the road for traffic on Thursday. The construction of the drainage channels was nearing completion. The building of a culvert and the road re-laying process were on. The works were expected to be completed this June.
