Letters to the Editor
The editorial "A people's victory" (April 26) succinctly projected the challenges before the Seven Party Alliance (SPA) that succeeded in getting Nepal's Parliament restored with unprecedented support from the people and a helping hand from Maoists. The people of the tiny Kingdom deserve to be congratulated for their steely resolve, particularly the netahru savdhaan warning they issued to politicians. One wonders when the people of India will issue such warnings to their leaders who invariably fail to deliver on the promises made.
B.V. Kumar,
* * * The Maoists have done the right thing by lifting their blockade of Kathmandu and other important highways. It is hoped Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala will take all sections of the Nepalese leadership along and declare the formation of a constituent assembly soon. It will pave the way for peace in the country that has snatched democracy from the hands of reluctant King Gyanendra.
Nagesh Belapure,
* * * It is dangerous for democracy and the future of Nepal to include the Maoists in the political process. Acknowledging them is not a sign of political maturity as they have faith in neither non-violence nor the rule of law.
Singanallur Sundaram,
