BELLARY: Three persons were killed and six were injured in two road accidents that occurred in Bellary district in the past 24 hours. According to the police, two persons died and six were injured when a water tanker, which supplies water to MSPL mines, hit the security shelter room and overturned. The police gave the names of the dead as Manju (19) and Siraj (40). They and the injured persons were sleeping near the security shelter. The injured are in a hospital in Hospet. The tanker driver is absconding, the police said. The Mariyammanahalli police have registered a case. In another accident, Mani (35) was run over by a lorry on the bypass road near Hospet. Mani, according to the police, was trying to place a stone under one of the tyres as a safety measure when the accident occurred. Hospet traffic police have registered a case.
