Rajahmundry: The just concluded sugarcane crushing season has given a boost to two private sugar factories in East Godavari district through which the farmers in Samalakot and Chelluru were benefited more than last year. According to M. Satyanarayana, district Assistant Commissioner for Sugarcane, Deccan Sugars has done 158 days of crushing and Sarvaraya Sugars 135 days. During 2005-06 crushing season, Deccan Sugars of Samalkot has recorded 4.38 lakh tonnes of sugarcane crushing through which 4.60 quintals of sugar has been produced. On an average, 10.55 per cent of sugar was produced from this factory. Mr. Satyanarayana said that the crushing season had ended on Wednesday.
