Chandrababu Naidu charges Chief Minister with misusing Government funds

  • Telugu Desam president interacts with cotton ryots
  • Makes surprise check of community hospital at Utnoor
  • Criticises lack of measures to tackle chikun gunya cases

LENDING AN EAR: TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu listening to the woes of cotton farmers at Utnoor on Thursday.

UTNOOR (ADILABAD DT.): Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday criticised the Congress Government for its failing to come to the rescue of farmers.

He said cotton farmers alone lost Rs. 5,500 crores this year because they could not get remunerative price in market. Mr. Naidu interacted with cotton farmers and made a surprise check of the community hospital at Utnoor in the morning.

Surprised to find lack of accommodation and other facilities for a large number of patients suffering from viral fever, he criticised the Government for ignoring the outbreak of chikun Gunya epidemic even while hundreds suffered from it.

    Tribal development

Addressing a general body meeting of the party's Adilabad unit, he castigated the Government for diverting funds meant for tribal development in the name of carving out model villages under the Indiramma programme.

He charged Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy with misusing Government funds and machinery during Praja Patham. The Chief Minister was using Government facilities to criticise the opposition parties, he pointed out. Commenting on the threat to life of TDP cadre, Mr. Naidu exhorted party workers to work fearlessly. He said the party would take care of the kin of the cadre who get killed either in accidents or in naxalite attacks. Mr. Naidu is on a three-day visit to Adilabad district in connection with review of constituency-wise party affairs. Party district president Gone Hanmanth Rao, Asifabad MLA A. Sridevi, party official spokesman S. Venugopalachary, former MLA Khanapur Ramesh Rathod, Telugu Mahila State secretary Ch. Suhasini Reddy and others attended.
