It's action unlimited from Mahesh Babu

COOL COUPLE: Mahesh Baby and Illeana in `Pokiri'.

Pokiri (Telugu)

Cast: Mahesh Babu, Ileana, Prakash Raj, Sayaji Shinde etc

Music: Mani Sharma,

Story, screenplay & direction: Puri Jagannath

An out and out action flick, one can see the director's thirst to cash in on the audience craze for such films.

Nevertheless it's Mahesh Babu's show all the way.

Pandu (Mahesh Babu) kills any one for money. He falls in love with Sruthi (Ileana), an aerobics teacher but never expresses it.

Sruthi too falls in love with Pandu but is unable to open up because of his criminal activities.

There are two mafia groups and Pandu associates himself with one of them. At one such meeting of the groups, Pandu kills several gang members of the rival group.

Enter the don of all these groups called Ali Bhai (Prakash Raj). Following a tip-off, IGP Quadri (Sayaji Shinde) corners Ali Bhai and puts him in a private lock-up.

Ali cannot be brought out on bail as he is not officially arrested and no FIR booked against him in any police station.

Who is the mole?

So, one of the mafia leaders hatches a plan and videographs Quadri's daughter (Sony Raj) in a compromising position with a Minister's son. After watching the CD, Quadri releases Ali Bhai. The CD gets circulated and is aired on all mobile phones and private channels. At this stage, Quadri's daughter reveals that her father had planted a mole among the mafia groups to get vital information.

Now Ali Bhai wants to trace the black sheep. The remaining part of the film deals with whether Ali Bhai is able to trace his man.

The film has a heavy dose of action. Some of the songs are tuneful and a couple of them are well choreographed. Ileana too is impressive.

For frontbenchers

Some dialogues mouthed by the hero are clearly aimed at frontbenchers. The comedy track between Brahmanandam, Ali and Venumadhav is pedestrian.

Though the momentum is there in the first half, it kind of fizzles out in the second half.
