DHARWAD: Pralhad Joshi, Member of Parliament, has asked the district administration, officials of Agricultural Insurance Corporation and banks to set right anomalies in the disbursement of compensation related to crop insurance (of 2003-04) in a month. Speaking at a meeting of officials of departments concerned and farmers' representatives, he took exception to the inordinate delay in taking corrective measures regarding disbursement of crop insurance amount. He said that when the issue was first raised in 2004, it was noticed that the names of about 4,000 farmers were left out while disbursing crop insurance amount of Rs. 105 crore. Following the findings, several meetings were held and even the insurance company officials were given ultimatums. But till date no action had been taken, he said. Although the issue was raised in Parliament, only 3,000 cases have been solved and there are 1,004 cases in which the farmers have not got justice, he said.
