BELLARY: Allum Veerabhadrappa, former Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, has threatened to give a boycott call against all elections if the Kurgodu Assembly segment was shifted to Kampli as proposed by the Commission on Delimitation of Assembly Constituencies. Addressing people from the Kurgodu Assembly segment who had gathered for a "rasta roko" at Kolur Cross near here on Friday, Mr. Veerabhadrappa, while terming it as unscientific (shifting of Kurgodu segment to Kampli), said Kurgodu was an important place and it had enjoyed the status (Assembly constituency) for the past five decades. Making it clear that the people were not against making Kampli an Assembly segment, he said they would oppose any move to shift the Kurgodu Assembly constituency to Kampli. He also said that an agitation would be launched to ensure that the move was dropped. The movement of vehicles was disrupted for over two hours when people staged the "rasta roko" in several parts of the Kurgodu Assembly segment. Inath Reddy, former president of Bellary Taluk Panchayat, Mundlur Anup Kumar and Vijayakumar Gowda were among other leaders who participated in the agitation.
