Attack on newspaper office: police begin probe

Kozhikode: The police have launched an investigation into the attack on the office of the Rashtra Deepika evening paper by a mob here on Thursday night.

The reception counter of office of the paper, which is located at East Nadakkavu in the city, was destroyed in the attack. The attackers also damaged the computers, a fax machine and ceiling fans inside the bureau. An office staff, V. Aneesh, sustained minor injures when the broken glass panes hit him. He was admitted to a private hospital.

KUWJ protest

Meanwhile, Kozhikode district president of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) K.V. Kunhiraman and secretary R. Madhushankar have protested against the attack.

According to a Statement issued by the KUWJ on Friday, in another incident, the crew of a local television channel engaged in capturing an untoward incident during an election campaign at Kinassery were attacked.
