FOR THE PEOPLE: Minister for Agriculture N. Raguveera Reddy receiving a representation from a woman at Praja Patham gram sabha held at Ramagiri village in Anantapur district on Friday.
ANANTAPUR: Minister for Agriculture and Civil Supplies N. Raghuveera Reddy has directed the district administration to settle the problems raised by people on drinking water, power supply to agriculture, ration cards, NREGS and 25 paise interest loans to SHGs during the Praja Patham programme, which have not been resolved in the gram sabhas. Launched on April 10, the Praja Patham programme concluded in the district on Friday. In all, gram sabhas were conducted in 600 gram panchayats and 178 municipal wards as part of the programme. Participating in the gram sabha convened as part of Praja Patham at naxal-affected Ramagiri village of Pamidi mandal in the district on Friday, the Minister said that people in the rural areas were benefited immensely with the programme as the officials were visiting their doorsteps to learn and resolve problems.
Second phase
The second phase of Praja Patham programme would be held in villages selected for Indiramma scheme in the first phase - from May 7, the Minister said. He urged the people to utilise welfare and development schemes being implemented by the Government . He appealed to the farmers to get capacitors fixed to their pumpsets to avoid huge expenditure on repairs . He also urged the farmers to utilise NREGS to create farm bunds and farm ponds in their fields . sRevised wages under the scheme were highly remunerative, the Minister said. Anantapur MP A. Venkatarami Reddy assured the villagers that he would pursue their demand for linking the village tank to Handri-Neeva project canal. He would get a survey conducted on the feasibility, he said. District Collector Y.V. Anuradha, Joint Collector Shashibhushan Kumar, Project Director of DWMA E.N. Srinivasulu, Joint Director of Agriculture P. Pothaiah and others also participated.
