Ramesh beats Srinivas

Dubai: Grandmaster R.B. Ramesh showed his mettle and outclassed IM norm aspirant D. Sai Srinivas in the fifth round of Dubai International Open chess championship here on Friday.

The victory helped Ramesh to climb to joint fifth position in the standing list and the Indian is now only half a point adrift of four joint leaders — Evgenij Miroshnichenko of Ukraine, Giorgi Kacheishvili of Georgia, Darmen Sadvakasov of Kazakhstan and Gabriel Sargissen of Armenia, who all have 4.5 points each. Women International Master Kruttika Nadig remained in contention for her maiden Women Grandmaster norm letting Taleb Moussa off the hook in a keenly contested fifth round game.
