BANGALORE: Minister for Forest and Environment C. Chennigappa has hit out at Janata Dal (Secular) MLA and former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia for reportedly saying that party president H.D. Deve Gowda played a political drama to make his son, H.D. Kumaraswamy, Chief Minister. In an interview to a newspaper, Mr. Sindhia is reported to have alleged that decisions on behalf of the Janata Dal were being taken by leaders from one family to the party's detriment. Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Mr. Chennigappa said the Janata Dal (S) leadership would not hesitate to suspend Mr. Sindhia from the party if he did not stop criticising Mr. Deve Gowda and Mr. Kumaraswamy. The party would expose his "politicking" if he did not retract his comments on leaders. Mr. Sindhia should accept Mr. Deve Gowda's leadership or resign his party membership, Mr. Chennigappa said.
`Ambition'
He said it was Mr. Deve Gowda who helped Mr. Sindhia become a Minister. Mr. Sindhia had set his eyes on the post of deputy chief minister after the ouster of Siddaramaiah. "The Kanakapura MLA (Mr. Sindhia) is jealous of others." He will be defeated in the next Legislative Assembly polls, the Minister said.
