SPF personnel stage protest against superior

Staff Reporter

KHAMMAM: Special Protection Force (SPF) personnel entrusted with the security of the Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (KTPS) staged a demonstration along with their families in front of the office of their Assistant Commandant from 12 noon till late Friday evening. They were protesting against what they called the treatment meted out to them by their Assistant Commandant.

The wives of some SPF personnel who led the protest demanded an apology from the officer for allegedly abusing his subordinates. The Assistant Commandant was allegedly roughed up by the protesters. The police made all efforts to disperse them, but the women did not relent. They wanted immediate action against the official.

Guard held

The police arrested a guard and recovered Rs. 47,000 from him in Palavancha town on Friday. The guard had allegedly drawn about Rs. 50,000 from the account of a customer of Andhra Bank in the last three days using his ATM card.

The customer, who forgot to take out his card from the ATM three days ago, found Rs. 50,000 missing from his account. The police and bank officials acted swiftly and recovered the card and the money from the guard.
