NOVEL PROTEST: Tamil Nadu Express Bus Worker Union members demonstrating in front of the MTC bus depot on Pallavan Salai on Thursday.

CHENNAI: Members of the State Express Transport Employees Union on Friday staged a dharna blindfolded to highlight their demands, including reinstatement of about 54 employees who served as data entry operators.

The operators are without a job for past seven months despite an order from the Madras High Court to reinstate them, according to a press release.

The protest near State Express Transport Corporation headquarters on Pallavan Salai was also to highlight the delay in payment of rewards to drivers with accident-free record of service and to speed up the payment of arrears, including to pensioners.
