Special trains to clear summer rush

New Delhi: The Railways will run several Special trains in the coming two months in order to clear extra rush of passengers during the summer season.

Among them will be a Rajdhani Special Train between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Mumbai Central, a Delhi-Rae Bareli tri-weekly train, New Delhi-Guwahati Summer Special, a Dehradun-Kathgodam Special train and a New Delhi-Howrah Superfast tri-weekly train.

The New Delhi-Jammu Tawi superfast Special train, which started from April 18, and will operate till May 5, will stop at Panipat, Ambala, Ludhiana, Jallandhar Cantt and Chakki Bank stations enroute in both the directions.

The 0425/0426 Delhi-Rae Bareli special train, to operate till July 1, will stop at Lucknow, Tilhar, Bareilly, Moradabad, Hapur and Ghaziabad stations enroute in both the directions.

Roads in East Delhi in for makeover

New Delhi: With East Delhi set to be the centre of activity during the Commonwealth Games 2010, roads in the area are in for a makeover as at least ten mega projects, including flyovers have been planned for completion before the commencement of the Games.

Delhi Urban Development and PWD Minister A.K. Walia, who on Friday took a round of a number of roads and sites of flyover projects in East Delhi, issued instructions to the PWD for time-bound completion of the work, according to an official spokesman.

The Minister also directed the Forest Department to create a green area around ITO and Nizamuddin bridges.

Parkash Dham annual celebrations

NEW DELHI: The 56th annual celebrations of Shri Prem Parkash Dham, Malka Ganj, will be held here on Saturday under the auspices of Satguru Swami Bhagat Parkash Maharaj. According to the organisers, saints and seers from all over the country and abroad are expected to attend.

The five-day celebrations will begin at Malka Ganj this morning at 8 a.m.

Man arrested for cheating banks

NEW DELHI: A 48-year-old man who allegedly cheated banks of Rs. 30 crores by obtaining loans for procuring machinery has been arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch.

The accused, Amit Chaturvedi, is the managing director of Shamken Spinners Limited. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (EOW) Prabhakar, Mr. Chaturvedi had taken loans from Bank of India, ING Vysya Bank, Syndicate Bank and Development Credit Bank Limited amounting to Rs. 30 crores to import goods.
