Dubai: The Indian Consulate in Dubai has admitted that services to the roughly one million Indians in the United Arab Emirates have been crippled by acute shortage of staff. While complaints galore about the poor quality of service and alleged ill-treatment by consular staff, diplomats say they are under tremendous pressure due to staff crunch. The Consulate-General provides services to Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. The Embassy in Abu Dhabi offers consular services to Indians in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. A consulate official said there was shortage of manpower.
