Quality award for SKM egg products

ERODE: Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), New Delhi, has presented Quality and Export Award to SKM Egg Products, Solangapalayam, Erode, for its outstanding contribution to the promotion of agricultural and processed food products, volume of exports, marketing promotion and implementation of quality system.

Export-oriented

The Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Kamalnath, presented the award at a public function in New Delhi recently. The Executive Director of the SKM Egg Products Export (India) Ltd., S.K.M. Sree Shivkumar, received the award.

The Chairman of the firm, S.K.M. Maeilanandhen, said on Friday that the SKM Egg Products Export (India) Ltd. was started in 1997 at Rs. 480 million and it was an export- oriented unit functioning with the Tamilnadu Industrial Development Corporation and in collaboration with Belovo of Belgium.

The firm was breaking 12 lakh eggs a day and converting the same into egg powder and exporting them.

ISO certification

The company obtained ISO 9001:2000 and exported 3,323 tonnes of egg powder during 2004-2005 with an annual turn over of Rs. 636 million. It was exporting the egg yolk powder, egg Albumen powder, whole egg powder to 27 countries.
