Woman's body found in a bag

42-year-old man arrested

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Vadasserikkara police on Sunday arrested a 42-year-old man, George of Kakkudumon Kumbipoykayil, near Ranni-Perinad, in connection with the gruesome murder of a woman in her 60s at Kakkudumon in last night.

Police version

According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sunil Jacob, the body of the woman was found abandoned in a bag in a rubber estate at Kakkudumon on Sunday morning.

Mr. Jacob said that the deceased woman was yet to be identified and the body has been sent to the General Hospital in Pathanamthitta for post-mortem.

The woman's head was found severed. According to sources a police team, comprising the DySP, Circle Inspector Abdul Rasheed and Sub-Inspector Soman traced the bloodstains found on the ground to the residence of the accused, located about 400 metres away from the rubber estate where the body was found. During interrogation, George confessed to the police that he had raped the woman and had cut her throat before dumping her body in a bag in the nearby estate.
