TESTING TIME: Students coming out of Al Farook School, Feroke, after taking the All India Engineering Entrance Examination on Sunday.
KOZHIKODE: As many as 5,500 students appeared for the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at 12 centres in the city for admissions to 20 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and 15 other institutes including four Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs). Kozhikode is one of the three centres in Kerala, others being Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram. P.C. Philip, coordinator of the exam in Kozhikode and principal of Al-Farook School, Feroke, said CBSE officials Ms.Daruni Arun from Delhi, Ms. Nirmala and Ms. Saraswathi from Chennai and 12 other observers from other States were in the city to supervise the examinations. The 12 centres, apart from Al-Farook School were Farook HS, Airport Senior Secondary School, Amritha Vidyalayam, Spring Valley, MES Chathamangalam, Dayapuram School, Chathamangalam, Veda Vyasa School, MSS Public School, Kendriya Vidayalaya No.1 and 2 and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. A total of 5,40,000 candidates had applied for AIEEE across the country this year. The papers for the examinations were, Paper I - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.) for candidates opting for admission to B. Tech courses and Paper II - Mathematics and aptitude test (from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.) for candidates seeking admission to B.Arch and B. Planning courses. The results are likely to be declared on or before May 31.
