Dara Singh joins fast

Baripada (Orissa): Dara Singh, awarded life imprisonment in the Australian missionary Graham Staines murder case, on Sunday joined the hunger strike launched by the prisoners of the Circle Jail here demanding more soaps.

The prisoners were earlier provided a soap each weighing 125 gm, but it was reduced to 50 gm each recently.

Dissatisfied prisoners launched the fast on Friday demanding a review of the decision. Dara alias Rabindra Kumar Pal, lodged in the same jail, has joined the hunger strike. Officials said the amount of soap given to the prisoners was reduced following a circular from the State's Inspector-General of Prisons recently to put into effect cost-cutting measures.
