NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old man convicted to life imprisonment for the death of 18 people in a blast inside a bus at Mehboob Nagar in Andhra Pradesh in 2003, who had escape from police custody a year ago, was arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police this past Friday. The Inter-State Cell of the Crime Branch recently received a tip-off on the activities of Ashraf Ali Ansari, who had been convicted in the Mehboob Nagar blast case and had escaped from police custody while being taken to Kurukshetra for court appearance. On Friday, a team led by Inspector Subhash Tandon zeroed in on the suspect and rounded him up at Karawal Nagar in East Delhi. During interrogation, he identified himself as Ashraf.
