NEW DELHI: A one-of-its-kind dance-theatre production involving traditional dancing skills as well as acting abilities was staged by special children at Kamani Auditorium here over the weekend. Titled "Ramayana On Wheels", the production staged by artistes with multiple disabilities was directed and choreographed by Guru Syed Sallauddin Pasha. It was organised by Frontline Special School (FSS), a non-profit making entity run under the Frontline Human Welfare Society, with the aim of showcasing the unlimited ability of children with multiple disabilities. The show was also part of a national awareness campaign to create Frontline Future Homes that would provide committed services to the mentally challenged children after the death of their parents or guardians. "Our mission is to create core competency among children with special needs through special education, advance therapies, spiritualism, extended family experience and superior infrastructure so that they can cope up with the challenges of society they live in," says Frontline Human Welfare Society president Rajiv Sharma. At the forefront of all activities at FSS is a team of experienced professionals, social workers and parent support group who have initiated this noble project. FSS also encourages the parents to participate along with the team in the integration programme that is tailor made for their special children.
