Manmohan sanctions aid to Suryanarayana's children
New Delhi
: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has approved the sanction of financial support for the education of the children of K. Suryanarayana, who was abducted and killed by Taliban militants in Afghanistan. The assistance will be provided from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund, his Media Adviser Sanjaya Baru said in a statement here.
Fortyone-year-old Suryanarayana, an engineer who was working for a Bahrain-based company, was abducted on Friday and his beheaded body was found near a highway in south Afghanistan on Sunday . Dr. Singh had said that all assistance would be provided to the family of Suryanarayana, who is survived by wife and three children.
