Anurag Reddy cracks century

HYDERABAD: Anurag Reddy cracked 127 to fashion Raju Cricket Club's 117-run victory over Red Rose in the Hyderabad District Cricket Association annual league championship here.

The scores: Bunty CC 242 in 39.3 overs (Maharshi 72, Sumit Reddy 56, Meghnath six for 41) bt Warriors 140 in 22.4 overs (Sumanth six for 15, Praharshi four for six).

Krishnanagar 179 (B.V. Charan 52, C.K. Srihari five for 16, Sankeerth Reddy four for 22) lost to Divyananda CC 182 for three in 23.2 overs (C.K. Srihari 82 not out).

Raju CC 238 for six in 40 overs (Anurag Reddy 127) bt Red Rose 121 in 29.2 overs.

JHPS 256 in 39.4 overs (M. Pradeep 82, Lokesh 52, Sumanth four for 26) bt Divyanand CC 182 in 34.5 overs (Sumanth 41, Pradeep six for 42, Srujay four for 28).

AP women emerge champions

Andhra Pradesh emerged champion in the South Zone junior women's cricket championship for the Eswari Bhai trophy, defeating Karnataka by 23 runs in the final at Anantapur on Sunday, according to information received here.

The scores: Andhra Pradesh 224 for seven in 40 overs (Keertana 87, Savita Nirala 52) bt Karnataka 201 for nine (Karuna Jain 94, Sindhu 35).

Third place: Tamil Nadu 169 in 40 overs bt Kerala 113.

Ganesh triumphs

D.V. Ganesh won the selection tournament organised by A2H Chess Academy for the all-India FIDE-rated open tournament to be hosted by Kingmakers Chess Academy in Annavaram from May 22 to 29. He scored five points, while K. Perumallu (4.5 points) was second.

Important results: Final round: D.V. Ganesh (5) bt Chiman Prakash Reddy (4); P. Satyanarayana (3.5) lost to K. Perumallu (3); P.V.V. Bhargava wins title

Bhargava Chary defeated M. Sai Kiran 29-22, 21-29, 29-25 in the final of the May Day sports ball badminton singles tournament here.

Genpact and SBH `B' entered the final of The Hindu-Eyantra Corporate League cricket championship here.
