I too will release letters, declares Dharam Singh

Special Correspondent

Denies having acted according to the dictates of Deve Gowda

BANGALORE: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly N. Dharam Singh on Monday said he too would release the letters written to him by Janata Dal (Secular) president H.D. Deve Gowda when the Congress-JD(S) coalition was in the power.

Addressing presspersons after participating in the May Day celebrations at the Congress Bhavan here, the former Chief Minister denied that he had run the government on the dictates of Mr. Deve Gowda. He had only held a meeting with officials at Ballabrooie guesthouse and sought the views of Mr. Deve Gowda on the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project.

Mr. Deve Gowda on Saturday released letters written by him to Mr. Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other leaders on various development projects in the State.

Referring to the Bharatiya Janata Party-JD(S) government, Mr. Singh said the differences between the partners had begun to surface.

Earlier, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President M. Mallikarjun Kharge inaugurated the party's May Day celebrations and said the rights of the working class had been curtailed in the era of economic globalisation.

He said foreign companies were exerting pressure on the Centre to amend labour laws, which would allow them to adopt a "hire and fire" policy. The Congress would always fight for the cause of labourers and their welfare, he said.
